The ABCDE method

The ABCDE method can help you check a mole:

AAsymmetry

One half is shaped differently from the other.

BBorder

The border is irregular, ragged or blurred.

CColour

Several colours or shades within one spot.

DDiameter

Larger than 5 mm across.

EEvolution

The spot changes in shape, colour or thickness.

Change is often the most important signal. A smaller spot can also be a reason to have it checked.

How it works.

  2. Review by a dermatologist

    A BIG-registered dermatologist reviews your photos within 12 to 48 hours.

  3. Assessment and a clear next step

    You read how the dermatologist assesses the spot. Is a physical examination, dermatoscopy or tissue analysis needed? Then the dermatologist tells you exactly what the next step is.
